Guide to renting a boat in Ibiza

Renting a boat in Ibiza is one of the best ways to explore the island. To keep the experience safe and hassle-free, it helps to be clear on a few points before you book. Documentation: to skipper the boat yourself you need the nautical qualification required by law (e.g. PNB or PER depending on boat type and area). If you don't have a licence, the option is to go with a skipper: we take you out and show you coves and routes without you having to worry about handling or navigation. With or without skipper: with a skipper you get experience, safety and local knowledge. Without (bareboat) you have more freedom of route and schedule, but you're responsible for the boat and must comply with regulations. For families or groups who prefer to relax, a skipper is usually the best choice. Duration: full-day trips (around 8 hours) are the most common and allow you to reach Formentera or several coves. Half-day trips are also available if you prefer something shorter. Which boat to choose: it depends on group size and plan. Boats like the Cap Camarat or Karnic are ideal for groups of 6–8: cabin, bathing platform, space for sunbathing and enough power to move comfortably. If you're fewer, a slightly smaller model may be enough and more economical. Deposit and fuel: the deposit is returned at the end if the boat is returned in good condition. Fuel is usually not included in the price; you pay according to consumption or refuel on return. On each boat's page we state the deposit with and without skipper. Booking in advance in high season (July and August) avoids missing out on availability.
